On the contrary, they remain a permanent part of our industry, becoming one under the dynamic Metso umbrella.
The technology expertise gained through these acquisitions brings together all of the history, patents, trademarks, trade names, pilot machines, machine drawings, technical documentation, and importantly, people from these great companies. Metso, a full scope supplier, utilizes these assets to develop better solutions and practices, to lower costs, and ultimately to provide unmatched products and services for our customers worldwide.
As a result of acquisitions and mergers, Metso today supports a host of products from numerous companies. Metso Corporation was created as the result of a merger between Valmet and Rauma in 1999. Metso Paper was formed by merging Valmet Corporation's paper technology and Sunds Defibrator's fiber technology operations.
In 2000, Metso acquired Beloit's roll cover division and paper machine aftermarket business assets, as well as related paper machine technology, Beloit's paper machine drawings, patents and several pilot machines. For instance, we employ hundreds of former Beloit employees who can provide the expertise you need to rebuild or service your Beloit equipment.

As of the beginning of 2007, Aker Kvaerner Pulping and Power was acquired in order to make Metso an even stronger player in pulp and paper industry. With this new part Metso introduced a new business line: Power generation.
In 2008, Metso acquired Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) paper making technology and became the sole owner of Beloit’s paper machinery intellectual property.
In August 2009, Metso acquired the coater and doctor blade business of Pacific International, a division of Pacific/Hoe Saw&Knife Company , located in Portland, Oregon, the United States. The acquisition allows Metso to become a single source blade consumables provider.
In November 2009, Metso and Tamfelt signed a combination agreement. Tamfelt is one of the world’s leading suppliers of technical textiles thus expanding its product portfolio to include forming fabrics, felts and belts. After acquiring all the Tamfelt shares in May 2010, the company has been established as Fabrics business line within Metso’s Paper and Fiber Technology.
